For our September meeting, September 17, we will join Catawba Lodge #342 in a joint communication at Catawba Lodge in Fincastle. Dinner will be at 6 pm. We must have your reservations by September 10. Your RSVP may be sent to me (Wor. Sid) either by phone (540-520-1101) OR email (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to some good food and fellowship with our brethren and families of Catawba Lodge.
From Wor. David Layman:
Note the attached flyer (click here: Cave Spring July 2012 Newsletter) for the Table Lodge to be held at Cave Spring Lodge on Wednesday, July 18th. Please email Don Richardson at email@example.com if you plan on attending. He has to know how many to prepare for.
We were pleased to present the first Charles Wesley Hale Scholarship to Bro. Aaron Parizo at our June Stated Communication.
Bro. Parizo is a Demolay member at Hanging Rock Chapter and is working through his blue lodge degrees at Taylor Lodge. Bro. Parizo was accepted to Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC to study culinary arts. We were honored to have Bro. Parizo, his mother, and his two brothers join us for dinner and at the presentation. We also would like to thank R.W. Campbell, Deputy Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, for joining us to present Bro. Parizo at the presentation.
Happy New Year! Your January 2012 issue of The Columns is ready. Please click here to download your copy: January 2012 Columns
Please note that there will not be a meal tomorrow, 1/9/2012. We will have our first officers meeting at 6PM on 1/9/2012 and ritual school to follow shortly thereafter. We will rehearse receiving the District Deputy Grand Master. R.W. Melvin Crowder’s official visit will be at our January Stated Communication on Monday, January 16th.
There will be a meal prior to our Stated Communicaction on the 16th, and your ladies are invited and encouraged to attend. Please RSVP with the lodge if you and/or your lady intend to join us so we know how much food to prepare.
December is always a busy month for Pleasants Lodge. Our election of officers and open installation will occur at our December Stated Communication. Please note that our December Stated Communication will start early at 6PM to allow time for election and installation as well as the food and fellowship. Please make plans to join us!
Your December 2011 Columns is ready. If you would prefer to receive The Columns via email notification from now on instead of the US Postal Service, please click here and fill out the form. Your willingness to receive The Columns in an electronic format will help save the environment and save the lodge in postage costs. Thank you!
In closing, please note that our December 5th officer meeting and ritual school is being replaced by a fraternal visit to Taylor Lodge in Salem. Their stated communication is opening at 6:30PM to allow time for elections and installation of officers. Please come out and show your support to our new DDGM at his homecoming visit (not official) to his lodge. We look forward to seeing you there.

Worshipful Master 2011
March has proved to be a busy month! We initiated a new brother, raised brother Thomas to the sublime degree of Master Mason, and enjoyed a wonderful ladies night dinner for our stated communication (see photo). We have new degree work to perform, and the lodge is growing. We have one more MM degree to perform this coming Monday the 28th. Dinner will be served at 6pM and the degree will start at 7PM. In addition, our March Night Out on the Town will be at Bad Wolf BBQ on Williamson Road this coming Thursday. Please be sure to look out for your April columns coming in the mail soon. Included in this issue is a list of some upcoming Child ID programs. I look forward to seeing you Monday night for the degree and Thursday for our Night Out.
Brethren, Pleasants Lodge is growing!! We need your help putting on our upcoming degrees. On Monday, Feb 28th we will be rehearsing both the EA and MM degrees in preparation for our upcoming degree work. We have three degrees total, so the first two Mondays in March will both be degree nights. While we have yet to determine exactly which degree we will be doing on which night, we are leaning towards doing the EA degree first. That would make our March schedule as follows:
Feb 28th: 6PM Dinner, 7PM ritual school to rehearse the EA and MM degrees.
Mar 7th: 6PM Dinner, 7PM EA degree
Mar 14th: 6PM Dinner, 7PM MM degree
Mar 21st: Stated communication: LADIES NIGHT. Please RSVP to the lodge if you and your lady plan to attend so we can have dinner prepared!
Mar 28th: 6PM Dinner, 7PM MM degree
We will only have dinners on rehearsal / ritual nights if there is enough interest, so please RSVP via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or to an officer if you’ll be available to join us for dinner.
Speaking of Dinner
I would like to personally thank Bro. Mac McCombs for the outstanding dinner at our last stated communication. His enchiladas left a lot of happy faces on our brethren and guests (including R.W. Art Pendleton for his official visit as our DDGM!), and I look forward to taking him up on his offer of preparing more meals at our future events.
At our February stated communication, Pleasants Lodge was pleased to receive Right Worshipful Arthur Lee Pendleton, District Deputy Grand Master for the 22nd Masonic District, for his official visit.
Pleasants’ first stated communication of 2011 went well. The W.M. made some remarks about the new Master’s Wages program and discussed the programs for the year. For more information about the Master’s Wages program, please read the January 2011 Columns if you haven’t already.
Pleasants has two FC degrees scheduled for Monday, Jan. 31st. All brethren are welcome. In addition, we will be having a dinner at 6PM prior to the degrees. If you’re interested in joining us for dinner, please RSVP to the lodge via the information on the contact page.
Pleasants will also be having a dinner prior to the February stated communication. Please contact us and RSVP if you would like to join us for the meal.
Pleasants Lodge December Stated Communication was the open installation of Worshipful Stuart Bain and his officers for the ensuing 2011 masonic year.
